I like the shot. It is a nice image with good composition. It just seems to missing something. Reminds me of this one I took not to long ago - I liked it, but there was something missing
From a technical standpoint this photo is fine. The composition is also alright, but I'd prefer it without the pine needles leaning against it.
As Rodger said, something seems to be missing, and I think that thing is light. In the majority of photographs, light is the most important thing. The lack of light makes it harder to separate the dark pine-cone from the dark pine needles and the dark background. If you have a chance to go out again, it's worth finding one in the light... or move one into the light, no one has to know, haha.
