I live near Paris, but Normandy is only an hour away. Unfortunately the sea is further (about 2h30) so I don't often go there (for winter wild weather I'll try my luck though). However the inland forests and the meanders of the Seine river offer some nice spots. It's never very wild (I used to live in Grenoble near the Alps so I miss it), but it's a nice rest from the noise and pollution of the city. So far I haven't had the best conditions this autumn. 2 weeks ago it was very foggy, which was where I got the full golden shot right into the sun, that was the only worthwhile shot from that day. Last weekend, it was the complete opposite. Only blue skies, I shot a backlit tree in the open, and a side lit tree deep in the forest. For the viewpoint I wanted to see (called Les Deux Amants) not a cloud in the sky, but still a good golden hour view. I'll definitely come back there when there's more drama in the sky.
nice shots Nick i wish we had another month with these colors unfortunately its nothing but sticks waving in the air now. i really like the wildflowers in the fog nice job
Thanks Joseph. The first one is probably my favorite too, not a single lens flare I was quite lucky. Here autumn leaves are almost gone as well, but winter opens up new views and longer golden hours. In France the main issue in autumn/winter is hunters, they're everywhere from October to March, and kill a few people every year by sheer negligence.
These are some pretty nice shots! I love the simplicity of the first one and the light in the second one, especially.
Nice work.
Thanks Jordan. The first one has almost no post processing, what you see is what I saw. The second one took a lot more : burning on the trunk (not perfect if I'm honest), removing most of the blue in the sky, pushing up the yellows and oranges, quite a bit of Orton effect (well, for me, so around 20 %), and vignetting. The issue was that this young tree didn't stand out enough against the other trees in the background.
I REALLY like the first one. The second one is pretty but lacks a point of focus. The 3rd and 4th are nice shots but the first one is the winner of this batch.
