I think the overall conversion was a success, in terms of the contrast, however I feel like there's a little too much going on. My eyes don't quite know where to focus, so I think the main problem is just the old "trying to capture it all" problem. Sometimes it's best to simplify the landscape with a longer lens.

When it comes to black and white photography, I feel like you have to be extra considerate of where the focus of the viewer is supposed to go, using the lights and shadows. This is why I think just converting a colour photo to black and white rarely works. I feel like most conversions don't really work out well unless you took that photo with the black and white conversion in mind already. This will help you set everything up for the conversion process before taking the photo, making everything go a little more smoothly. Keep in mind, that when you're taking a photo, it's a good idea to see the finished image (in your head), not just the view in front of you, or the preview on your camera screen.

I hope that helps... or at the very least, makes sense.

Yeah man real helpful. Thanks👍

Hi Marcus,
Halftones are probably missing a little bit of punch.
For B&W work i use exclusively Silver Efex by DxO NIK software, i really allows you to bring details in the 40-60% flat greys.
Take care :-)

than you very much. I actually just downloaded the trial version of that software
