Fall and winter in Tuscany

Morning shot of la Verna, a mountain in east Tuscany. I consider this one of the last shots of the fall now that the higher mountain tops are getting filled up with snow. The height of la Verna is 1200m and the forground is about a 1000m and where I was is around 700m. This why this gives a interesting perspective. It's not a composit.

I tried getting the house in the trees more out in the picture but I wasn't really happy with the result.

Please let me know what you think.

Shot on a Nikon D700 70-300 mm

A difficult position for possible separation of the subject. Your composition in my opinion is not appropriate in this case. Perhaps the square would be a bit better or zooming on that prominent tree.

Interesting point Radisa. Thanks for the tip.

i agree with Radisa but in fact you could take several small pieces from this and have more than one nice image. but the scene as a whole is very beautiful and i would have wanted to take it all in as well. my only critique about the original is that the 3 planes are too even in height your getting a flag effect maybe changing elevation would have helped.

Thanks Joseph! I tried cropping it to different scens but then the limitations of a 12 megapixel sensor pop up. I'm losing a lot of detail. For insta it still would be ok but for printing not really. Now I'm also seeing the flag effect haha thanks for the insight. Next time I'll try from different elevations.

12 mp? Which camera were you using? Glad to be of help

My trusty old Nikon D700 ;)

i didn't realize the mp was that low... how old is that model?

Nikon D700 (released in 2008) is even now for me an excellent camera, true workhorse (as Canon 5D), do not be fooled by the amount of megapixels...

Sure thing. I'm never going to get rid of it!
