I was hiking to another location I had scouted out in Smith Rock when the conditions fell in line and delivered a shot that ended up working better than the pre-planned shot.
Great location and good timing on that lovely back lit image Tyler. Ideally as far as the composition is concerned, it would be better if you could go down a little bit, if it's not too steep, so that the top of this rock on the left be over the horizon and to wait for a little the sun to be close to the horizon to catch the sun star, but for that is necessary multiple exposure blending. So in that case the "S" curve of the river would be the leading line to the sun.
It's always good to have some object to break the horizon and to leave more space for the sky, so that image can breathe.
Cheers...
" it would be better if you could go down a little bit, if it's not too steep" - No can do good buddy. This is a fragile high desert environment, every step off-trail is very damaging to the terrain and flora.
pretty area I'm thinking you could have use a grad filter to reduce the glare and help out with the color desaturation i think i would be divorced if i had these locations in my back yard id never be home hahaha
