i would calibrate your white balance when going out in snow i have learned from others in the community that it is quite important i would probably bring down the magenta as it is making it a bit purple use the WB sliders. did you take any shots through the trees closeups or a faded DOF there are tons of shots you could pull of at this location
So I actually wanted a different color tone so I thought a hint of magenta would make the image more interesting instead of a plain white. I actually did not shoot any photos with depth of field, But I probably should have now that I think of the possibilities.
The blue is very heavy handed. I think the main issue with this photo is you are not defining your subject well. Your intention to create a mood is good, though maybe you should focus on the path and the man.
Maybe coloring the mans jacket as others have suggested, and throw a radial filter with increased exposure on the length of the path that the man is walking on, to create a sense of continuity and make the man stand out.
Also You could darken the foreground before the man with an exposure adjustment to create more depth and a moodier shot.
I'm not sure I agree with making the coat pop. The subject is those beautifully coated trees. I currently find my eye being drawn into the trees and then landing on the man, who provides not just an anchor but a sense of scale.
I fear if you were to make the jacket pop (eg make bright red) this would pull the eye too much. You can certainly try and see what you feel is best.
I do like the blue tone (and keep in may of my own winter shots) as this emphasizes the chilly environment and seems natural. I feel however that this may be slightly on the purple side so you could play with the WB.
Other than that the lighting is a bit flat, but I do like the image and the cold frigid mood you portray.
Hey Frederik, I also tried playing around with the cropping and think if you take 10-20% off the top the image becomes stronger.
As in all cases try changes but at the end of the day the image needs to meet your own taste and artistic expression.

Framing is a bit odd with those branches top left...the figure looks as if he/she is falling over. Too much blue tone overall....white balance bit off, hardly any contrast...needs work...
I'd make the color of the coat pop more
Yes, I should try that.
Great shot but I would try to get rid of some of the blue glow in the trees and snow and I would also try to make the walking guy stand out more
Thank you Alexander, I liked the blue tone on the trees. Makes the image more interesting. Sure I will try to make me stand out more.

i played with it a little bit but it was using the jpeg so it won't look as good
