Young and new photographer here! Where can we sell good photos?

Hi! I'm an aspiring photographer and have a bunch of good photos and I'm looking for a way to earn some cash. Does anyone know any photo website or other ways to start selling these pictures?

First off send some to a picture editor and get some feedback, some picture agencies want to see three shots of different genres before they sign you...good luck.

thank you!! could I ask how can we get in contact with any picture editor?

Hi, Really go through your portfolio and select 10 pictures then cut that down to 5 then down to 3...then do a web search for stock agencies and ask photo editors to look at your work with a view to becoming a photo-subscriber. It really depends on what your genre is...I've sold my work for the past 7 years. I've decide to quit as l felt it affected my own work too much. I'd recommend only staying with 2 agencies as it means a lot of work on the computer in up-loading and all that metadata and tagging each photo. Good luck :) PS Only sell RM.

You can certainly go list your photos on some photography sites, though I'm sure they will take a pretty big commission (also be very careful about what ownership rights you are potentially giving up to your photo when uploading). Really up to what u want to do.

As far as earning a living doing landscape/cityscape photography, thats a completely different story and there are 100 different avenues that are easily researchable online. To me, if you're asking "how do I make money selling my pictures", it means you haven't done enough legwork on your own yet.

I agree with your personal photo assessment; your photos are good, but not great. Your 2nd photo in particular has a couple of technical errors, the most obvious of which is a heavy yellow cast.

The reality is if you're a good salesperson you'll find someone to buy your photos. In other words, taking photos and selling photos are two completely different skillsets. If selling photos is your goal you should be aggressively networking with people while you are improving your skills as a photographer.

thank you for ur advice!! I agree too that the 2nd picture is not well done

Appreciate the time taken to reply!! Will work harder and really love how dedicated you guys are!

Good advice already. I would gather up 6 or 7 shots of your best work and find a seasoned pro that will give you an honest critique. It's really the only way you're going to get to the level you seek.

Keep in mind that you need a thick skin when asking for a critique. It can be deflating or it can be enlightening. If you let it get to you, then you'll never get better.

Another way to learn about the technical side is to review critiques that people make of other's work. You can find that sort of thing on You Tube. Not all of it is good, but if you wade through, you'll find a lot of good information on You Tube.

Finally, once you learn the technical stuff, then you work on the artistic stuff. There are rules that we follow like the Rule of Thirds. However, if you wish to be 'individual', you'll find that the rules are more like suggestions and should be treated as such. Good luck!

Thank you! I truly appreciate your advice and will work harder. All the best to you to!!
