Christmas holidays in the South of France

Happy New Year everyone.
Every Christmas I drive to my parents' house near Bordeaux. On the way in and back I try and discover as many places I have yet to see. This came from a realisation I had while living in Australia : most people would rather see another country than their own, and after a year in Melbourne I had visited more parts of Australia than most Aussies. But the same could be said about my own country : I hadn't seen much of France. So now every year, for 4 years now, I've gone to rural or wild regions of France. This year, I went to some villages in the Loire Valley, then Ile de Ré, an island in the Atlantic, busy in summer almost dead in winter (perfect for me), the Cévennes mountains, made famous by Robert Louis Stevenson and his donkey, and then the Verdon gorges, in Provence, also pretty quiet in winter. In historic villages, I tried night photography as they're beautifully lit. Ile de Ré is flat, and featureless, so grabbing a nice shot was difficult. The Cévennes are a bit easier, very quirky, rocky and rugged. And finally, the Verdon is a stunning region. I was staying in a cliff village, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, with steep and narrow streets. The gorges themselves had so many vultures I couldn't count them, and along the scenic roads lookouts they'd come up and wistle by. Also, painters have always talked about "that special light" in Provence. And it's true, it is gorgeous. I saw a stunning alpenglow one night, the sky was alight from all directions, never seen this in such proportions. I'm curious to hear what's your favorite shot of the lot, I tried my best, still with my old faithful FZ200.

Nice images. Second is my favorite.

Thanks, second one is probably my favorite too, as a photograph. It's not my best memory though, as it was "just" a white sand beach, but the atmosphere and the light are very calm and serene. My best memory is probably the vultures, but with the FZ200 it is very difficult to shoot moving birds, the AF is not very reactive, and the zoom is very slow.
