Land(scape) of the Rising Sun

This is a sunrise drone shot from my visit to California last month. I really appreciated all the helpful criticism on my last one, would love to hear thoughts on this!

Happy shooting everyone!

you love those amped up colors lol...nice capture with the wave crashing and the sunset colors. like i said last time you don't need to oversaturate the entire scene pick out the best parts by masking and leave the rest as normal color like last time the buildings were hot yellow now they are orange

Haha ok fair point, I'll keep trying to learn some restraint on that front. Seems like it might take me a while to break bad habits lol

lol we'll keep on you till you do

As Joseph said, I think you could tone down the saturation. It's nothing to worry about, I think just about every person getting into photography has trouble with processing in the beginning. I literally laugh when I look at photos I processed just 3 years ago. For saturation, I rarely raise mine over 15-20 percent depending on the scene. I use the independent colour sliders more often than not

Thanks Jordan. I actually only bumped the global saturation by 10 in Lightroom, and then ended up decreasing it by 10 in photoshop (I just realized this when I went back to check lol). Regardless, the point about how they ended up looking remains and is something to work on. Thanks!

Thats a really great shot, that water in mid air ties everything nicely. As far as coloring goes, I like that orange, though I would like to see more blues in the photo to have some balance.

Thanks Francisco! Yeah, maybe some blues would have helped balance the aggressive orange. I tried adding a little to the shadows but that’s not quite the same thing. Appreciate the feedback!

No problem, maybe this peter lik photo can serve as a reference, has a lot of orange and blue toning. https://lik.com/collections/new-release/products/mediterranean-nights
