I agree the first is not special, but adding the person helps. It shows more depth and magnitude.
The second just looks very surreal, almost like a painting. I like it, but if it fits your portfolio or not is not for us to answer. It is a great image, but in its own, very painterly way.
First shot is nice though I think the sunlight is too much, bouncing off of everything and doesn't feel super balanced. Maybe you can correct it with luminosity adjustments.
first one can certainly be manipulated to fit the second one is very odd to me as nothing seems to coordinate with my eyes they all seem separate like they were scrapbooked like Oren said more of a painting or artist invented landscape
Maybe a few tweaks on the first
i don't know why but elongating the image on these pensive single person shots seems to work better to create a more vast space like your eye thinks its looking at a grander view when in reality you've deleted 1/8 of lol strange how the brain perceives things
Both of them are good, but I actually really like the second one better. I think everyone else pretty much covered the first photo, so I'll primarily focus on the second one. There's a lot of different things going on within the environment, but my eyes never got lost thanks to the leading lines. I'm counting at least 3 leading lines towards the tree (the shadow on the field, the road, and the line of flowers). It's got some amazing depth, while remaining simplistic for the viewer to understand what the subject is. Once my eyes finished with the tree they were free to float around and take in the other small details but they never got lost and I never once got distracted.
While I think they are both pretty good, the second one is stronger in every single way, at least for me. To me, the first one is more marketable as a "Visit ____" advert and thus better for the general public, where as the second one is photography as art, and will be more appreciated by photographers and lovers of composition.

Thanks Oren for your opinion, quite a real observation IMO.

I had similar doubts. Thanks!

This 16:9 style crop seems to work with it.
I must agree with you Joseph and this your version looks much better. Thanks!

Sky is certainly not interesting...
Nice one Joseph, certainly works better as a panorama.
Thanks Thorsten!
You guys, helped me a lot.

Beautiful and extensive analysis of second photo Jordan. I'm glad you like it. Thanks so much!
Both cool photos, the second looks more natural and real tho.
Thanks for input!
