I would appreciate CC on this photo. I believe this phenomenon is called parahelio. The sun was setting and it was just beautiful, and fleeting! Any advice to improve would be greatly appreciated. I see more of the rainbow effect on screen than when I print the photo. Canon EOS Rebel XS, ISO 200, 1/320 sec, f/8.0, 18 mm.

I'd try to brighten the snow on the back a bit, and maybe somehow make the sun less square.
Did you shoot with s polarizer? Because they really help with rainbows...
I agree regarding the snow. Thanks. I did not use a polarizer. The sun's shape is part of the parahelio effect, I believe. It was an amazing sight.
Polarizer pointing directly at the sun will do nothing at all, only works at an angle, at a 90 degree angle the effect is strongest.
