Autumn colors

Tara canyon, Montenegro. One of my older captures in re-processing.

I'm interested did I succeed to convey the atmosphere and whether the colors looks natural?

And Re - Edit based to Thorsten and Francisco observations, I think looks better.

And third version of Re - Edit only with some cloning work.

Amazing tones and edit 👏

Huge thanks!

Fantastic capture and edit! If anything, try to cool down (push towards blue, away from yellow) those parts of the image that are in the shade, to get a more natural look.

I just did it, but it seems too little, and if more highlights seems problematic to me. Maybe because I'm avoiding a blue cast on the rocks :)
Thanks a lot Thorsten!

Try a luminosity mask. I learnt this little trick with color balance from Eric Bennett.

I did it for highlights at the second version. For a long time I use luminosity masks and they are now the backbone of my processing :)

Nice shot. The tree colors feel like they might be pushed a bit too much, particularly the brighter yellows. The trees are almost uniform in their punchy colors, feels like they should have more variety in intensity. You could experiment with masking in some of the original shot trees with a low opacity brush to get some more variety, though I'd probably dial back the color a bit on the edited trees either way.

The bright trees at the termination of the water in the foreground look weird to me, maybe can be corrected by pulling back the color.

Thanks Francisco! I also worked on variations in color intensity, but I still think that the colors in highlights (especially yellow) are the the weakest point. It is easily may solved with luminosity masks.

Yeah for sure. Now that I look at it again, the main thing that bothers me is the lighting, its difficult to determine where its coming from, and what time of day the shot was executed.

Morning shot. Cloudy weather, light is diffuse through hole of thin clouds, and it should be noted that river is on bottom there are all around the high mountains.

That edit looks way better, tones are easier on the eyes. Middle right those bright yellows r still a little obtrusive. Termination point of the river (bottom of photo) might benefit from some burning.

Yes, maybe some easy cloning and a problem solved with those two yellow trees that take a little distraction and for me at least.

i came late to the party.... i think your done...great image

It's a pity you did not participate Joseph. Finally, the editing sometimes requires the help of a friends!
Thanks so much!

im a big fan of all the help and support we get and give to each other always a pleasure

This thread is a perfect example, what are you talking about?

I think I missed the party!

Great image to start with as usual, Radisa, and subtly improved by the successive re-edits. On my calibrated but consumer desktop monitor, and on my calibrated MS Surface Pro laptop, the mist has a slight magenta toning evident through all 3 versions that (ever-so-slightly) unsettles me, because mist "should" be white. Only, of course, it may not have been in the scene before you.

Colours still a little intense? But again, you were there.

Just curious whether anyone agrees.

Nit-picking, anyway - great job!

Thanks for input Chris!
You noticed well about the magenta, but it was done intentionally. I love sometimes magenta or blue cast because it seems to me to contribute to the atmosphere, as I don't like green, cyan and yellow cast.

Fair point. Must agree about a "green, cyan and yellow cast"! Especially cyan - not that much of it in the natural world, except some fresh water, and turquoise mines. Creeps into photography (film and digital) sneakily. Rarely a good look. Green mist - sounds like 1914-1918...

Magenta raises colour temperature, just saying. You can try to get rid of a greenish cast by dialling down green saturation, worth a shot.
