Classic vs. non-classic photography locations

I'm not avoiding classic overcrowded photography spots, but I'm trying to do something different in almost every destination I visit.
Have I managed to beat the classic locations on Dolomites and Santorini, estimate yourself and feel free to share your experiences?

First is sunset photo near Pordoi pass with a view to Sella pass and Sassolungo - Dolomites, Italy.
Counter sun LE shot 78 sec. from three exposures (one for sunstar) with use of 10 sttoper ND filter, otherwise quite technically demanding photo.

Second one is view on Fira, the capital of Santorini at blue hour.
25 sec. from three exposures and pretty technically easier then first one.
Considering the volcanic origin of the island, one analogy can be withdrawn with the flow of the lava, which reminds me the brightly lit contours of the city.

I believe it's fine to shoot a well known spot, if you do it in an original manner or if it's to get it out your system. That being said, I hate doing it myself, unless it's really on my bucket list. I would never visit Antelope Canyon for example, I know I'd hate it. And seeing so many photographers in Iceland actually makes me want to go less. I do admire the people who do it in winter though.

Out of the two pictures, I like the second one, the white houses almost look like a glacier and the clouds surrounding the moon are interesting. The first one I'm sorry I'm not a fan I don't like asphalt on a picture or big sunbursts.

Interesting thinking about classic locations.
Thanks for input and opinion Nick!

I think that first shot is great, though think the effect on the sun is a bit much. The 2nd shot is very nice, but I think it would have benefited from compositing in earlier shots when there weren't as many building lights on. Both spectacular takes on these locations.

For the sunstar is the "fault" of long exposure :)
Thanks a lot Francisco!
