Thorsten Westheider's picture

One Fine Morning

I was just browsing through my cache of photos and found this little undervalued fella in there. It's a good example how light turns a flat boring scene into something beautiful.

This is the Lake District by the way, but I don't remember where exactly anymore. It might have been Rydal Water.

it is a nice shot i like the warmth of the foreground and the receding cooler background which separates the scene nicely and creates more dimension not always an easy accomplishment. i love those stacked stone walls they make for excellent leading lines. looks like there is a little mist or haze on the lake, i wish you could have managed to get a little more of that in the image but sometimes the angles just don't allow for it. nice image

You should've seen how the light flooded the scene, it was awesome!

so this is more natural to the scene not amped up

This is almost straight out of camera.

What a wonderful image Thorsten. I really love the led ins and the way the foreground is lit.
The Lake District is so idyllic and such a great place to hike (when not raining) - I'd love to get back there.

Congrats on a beautiful picture!

Thanks Alan, I feel the same and am already making plans to shoot this spring's bluebells. I was a bit out of luck last year and on top of that it hardly rained at all - I love shooting waterfalls, imagine the frustration of getting no rain in 10 days, in the Lakes of all places!

Beautiful light you caught Thorsten, maybe just a little wider framing, if it was possible.

Thanks Radisa, shooting wider would have included more trees and I felt the image would look cluttered.
