Backyard Sunset

Sunset in my backyard I usually have a cup of Coffee in my flip flops taking these on my back porch taking these. I'm still learning Lightroom anybody know how to remove a lens flare. Other than that any opinions, Good, Bad, Ugly? D3500, 25mm, F9, 1/60th, ISO 100.

Massively blown out highlights and too little foreground. With sunsets (or sunrises for that matter) the sun itself isn't actually that important to capture, it's the light. If you had waited for a couple of minutes longer that bright yellow would have turned orange/red and the clouds would have reflected that light, making for a way more dramatic scene.

Thank you for the recommendations, I have some golden hour sunsets but exposure becomes a problem. Mostly i just wanted opinions, likes and dislike regarding this image. Thanks a bunch.

Hi Mark,

I agree with Thorsten. It was a little too early in the evening for this shot. You took this before the golden and blue hours. The light is very strong and therefore you have very high contrast between lit and shaded areas and the shadows are stark.

Since this is your backyard (lucky guy), you can keep shooting this view. The fence doesn't do much for me. I would rather move close to the water's edge, and what appears to be an interesting tree, and take this shot again when the yellows change to oranges, reds and pinks. And if you get some clouds in the sky like you have in this shot, you'll have a winner.

I would think less about lens flare and more about light and composition. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the recommendations, this is what i was looking for i do get some amazing sunsets here. Its difficult to get the right composition, to close and I loose the water. If i wait later i run into a exposure problem that i just cant figure out.
