Hi David! I like the composition (don't always say that!) and the concept. One thing that strikes me is a certain harshness in the stark blue vs. yellow-brown contrast. The vivid blue makes it a bit postcard-y, but the bleak wintry landscape then disappoints.
Unless you want to convey harshness - and it's OK if you do, IMHO - then I'd desaturate the whole image, and just on a creative impulse, I'd consider warming the colour balance to create a ?painterly look. I append a very quick rendition echoing this, perhaps overdone.
I think there's a dust spot in the sky at top, and think you've got a fair bit of chromatic aberration (hard to tell at this res). Technical bugs never help... :-)
