Looking for Feedback

Took this, this past weekend. I think I may have over done it a bit on the rocks and sky but the photo has actually had some good response on my Facebook groups and 500px. So I thought I'd post it on here and hopefully get some feedback on it. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I like the motion in the water, and the rock you've found is quite nice. Also, the colour and light, which I'm guessing you've added in post, is good on the main rock, but the light seems a little too strong on the rock just to the left and the one behind that.

My only real issue with the photo is the blown out sky at the top. You should be able to fix it up with a clone stamp, though.

Overall, some nice work.

Thank you!

Nice. You're good and close with the subject and the motion of the water is dynamic and beautiful. A well captured moment, nicely composed.

I agree that the rocks look a bit un-natural in the way you've tweaked the lighting. Nothing monstrous though; it's still pretty and you could tone that back a bit, but I'd leave the foreground as you have it.

Agree with Jordan - the sky is slightly overblown and could be fixed easily.

Thanks! Definitely going to go back and tweak the sky.

really like the motion the only gripe i have is the amount of saturation im assuming you preformed the saturation on the entire image instead of selectively enhancing try and use the raw HSL sliders as you will get a better result

Funny enough I actually did use the HSL sliders on this which I normally neglect. I also added some "light" selectively on the rocks and I think the combo of both ended up being a little much. I'm gonna tweak it some before I put it in my profile. Thanks for the feedback!

also go to greg benz site and download his free masking tool it simplifies things immensely and you can isolate much more effectively

Freaking love the overall glowing ambience of this, and the water motion is stellar. Great exposure with those waves. Silky and dreamy. I'm digging this low composition with the rocks. There are some blown highlights in the sky, but it's really not that distracting to me. I would darken up all the rocks except that one in the front getting kissed by light, but that's kind of my own personal taste preference. Great image.

Thanks!

Hey guys. Took all of your feedback into account and came up with this. I liked the overall color of it so didn't change that too much. But darkened the rocks in the background and patched up the sky a bit. I have to say this is probably one of my favorite photos that I've taken to date.

This one looks more realistic than the one in the original post!
I love the scene and the movement! Keep it up! :)

Hi Kyle! Love that movement in the water, and the whole composition. I started an edit (just can't help myself...!) before I realised you've posted one. Agree with the tone of most comments.

I'd add that the sky has a cyan cast, and that the horizon is crooked. All still easily fixed. My edit reflects my preference for muted rather than vivid tones. I append it,for what it's worth.

Is there a reason why the "leveling" option in lightroom never seems to work? I use it all the time and it never seems to completely level my photos. I mean it's off by such a small amount I probably would have never noticed it until someone pointed it out. Is there a better option out there to level your photos?

Can't help with Lightroom, Kyle. I use the unpopular ACDSee, but it's supposed to be an Adobe imitation. In this, images can be levelled to within 0.1 degree, with the aids of an optional superimposable grid, and a feature in which if you select two points that are almost horizontally or vertically aligned, it will make it exact. I did this here, and checked using the grid. I mention all this because I suspect something similar is available for you.

I'm very sensitive to non-level images, especially sea horizons, but a few other people here are too, I notice.
