And, I'm curious what you think about this shot...
This is a hidden valley in Iceland and the most beautiful canyon I've ever seen..
It's a clean shot (as it was..) the only thing is that I used the HDR technique..
let me know what you think!
thank and greetings,
Freek
Looks great!
print it!!! i would be happy with this as well it's a great location nice and moody great job
Thanks Kyle and joseph,
It’s definitly the plan to print it and hang it on my wall.. still discussing with myself to print on metal or on glass....
Most excellent! Crazy beautiful scenery and lush greens. Fantastic capture, super sharp and dynamic range is incredible. Love the subtle drama in the sky, great addition to an already insane scene.
Thank you Nick! I've waited there for over an hour to get the sky right and the light.
Iceland really is a wonderful location for landscapes! Nice one!
Thank you Niklas! It's awesome in Iceland! :)
This looks great, and the little bit of cloud drama helps set the mood! Nice work
Thanks Tomas, Yes I agree that everything falls together... :)
Very nice clean repetitive forms in terms of composition!
Thanks Radisa, one meter more to the right and I would have fall down of the cliff... so needed to push the limits to get the composition :D
This really is spectacular. I hope you sell lots of these.
Thanks Phillip! are you interested? you will be the first! :)
Produce a B&W version and maybe!
hmm interesting... I'll have a look.. ;)
Hi Philip,
You are as I see on your profile a specialist in b&w images. I don't have a lot of experience with b&w in post. do you have some tips?
Or, how would you edit this image?
I've tried several options while editing... non of the were satisfying for me...

This is a quick and dirty edit. I wanted to draw attention to the waterfall and river through the middle of the photo, but still reveal the fantastic details in the canyon walls. With the level of detail you've got here, this image needs to be printed BIG. At least 16" x 24" (406mm x 610mm), but I would go even bigger, personally.
I converted with a filter that enhanced the green tones and added some local contrast (structure) to bring out the detail. Darkened the clouds a bit, but they did look good before I started. Then some burning and dodging to bring up the valley and darken the walls. Make sure to hit the edges of the rocks where they are slightly backlit to make sure they don't blend into the rest of the scene.
thanks for the inspiration... looks good! I'll let you know what I'm coming with.. :D
This is awesome! I don't think i've seen a photo from this place in Iceland before which is rare for Iceland. Excellent shot
Thank you Nick! True! this is a hidden gem.. Not many people know this location.. All the time I've bin here (also the hike up the mountain) I haven't seen any other people.
Hi.
I think this is a great picture. Nice green colors, dramatic clouds and a good layout.
One sugestion. Try not using HDR. It tends to flatten pictures. I thing you would get better depth in the picture working with the raw files separately, and compose them together by using layers and not HDR.
Hi Kjell,
Thank you for your interesting comment! Because of the hard and soft light I felt it was needed to HDR this image and create the "as it was" feel and look.
Do you think the image is flatten?
I think that If I would edit the raws separately it doesn't have the "as it was" feel anymore because I have to many options to "tweak" the image...

You might be right, and I wrong. But I have taken similar pictures, and ended up not using HDR, because I think you lose some depth. My wife don't agree with me and likes the HDR better, because the HDR has stronger colours and contrast. So there you go.
Non the matter, it is a beautiful picture.
I didn't wanted to be right with my story... was just trying to get a depth details to get it better in the future...
thanks for your reply! :D
beautiful
Thank you Jeremy! :D
Few posts generate this many comments. That this one did is a sign if a great piece of work. Congratulations!
Thanks Ruth!
