Portfolio Worthy?

One of my favorite things to do when I get bored or have some extra time is to go through some old photos or do a new edit on some older photos. My lightroom/photoshop skills are better than they were 2 or 3 years ago and it can be fun to go through my older photos from time to time. This is one I came across the other day that I had never edited before. I really like the way it came out. Just thought I'd post it here to get some feedback on it. And also ask the question, is this something that belongs in a portfolio?

Yes, I believe it is portfolio worthy. It would be kind of photo that looks good printed on canvas.

Post it. It's gorgeous!

Thank you!

I would agree - BTW I think the light on the sand provides a great lead in to the cloud on the horizon, which itself adds balance to the image.
Not sure if this was your intent but it works for me.

That's exactly what I was trying to do!

Whether it belongs in your portfolio is somewhat relative to how it compares with your other work. If this is one of your top 15-20 landscape shots, then yes.

On its own merit, I like the image a lot as well as the way you processed it. Not sure if you were going for an undisturbed landscape - if so, you can clone out the bird footprints and a couple of the small pebbles prior to printing. This is up to taste, of course.

I know it comes down to personal taste on whether or not to include things in your portfolio. I personally thought it was good enough. Mostly wanted some feedback to see what others thought. Seems like others like it too, which is nice. I was torn on including the bird foot prints or not. I ultimately decided to keep them because they go in nice straight line. If they were scattered all over the place I probably would've taken them out. Thanks for the comment!

solid shot Kyle nice job

Thank you!

Split decision - foreground worthy, but background not to me!
Lovely work!

Definitely in my view, Kyle! I like it. In fact, I reckon it's the best one in your portfolio. Rare to find myself disagreeing with Radisa much, although what I like in this image is an airyness, which is helped by that background. Love the composition, too. Love that cool sand. Love the wafting grasses, that massive but unthreatening cloud. The image strongly evokes for me the pleasant cool evening breeze at a beach, in itself redolent of myriad fond memories of the beach throughout my life. Don't care about the footprints in this one, perhaps because I wish they could have been mine. There is relatively little fault found by posters - unusual in itself. That should say something about worthiness, with this friendly but picky bunch!

Haha, your not kidding with that last sentence! Thank you so much, I'm glad you like it.
