I took this the other day in San Diego. It wasn't planned and I had to constantly move the camera out of the way of the waves so I did the best I could. I wish I could've done long exposure but I did not have my nd filters with me.
It's a bracketed and focus stacked shot.
Does it look too edited?
Hi Russ. It looks good to me but I'm not a pro with landscapes. I like the curve of the cliff and the opposite curve of the wave. I do have a suggestion though. Even though I am sure it is naturally occuring, that white rock is jarring. At first I thought it was a canvas bag. Then I blew up the image to try and see what it was. My point here is that I'm pretty sure this was wasn't your goal for the image. Since this is a once in a moment shot, I hope you can darken or get rid of it. Otherwise I think this is beautiful!!
;)
Thank you for your feedback! I'll see what I can do about that rock. I didn't realize it was that noticeable.
if you have to ask the question you've typically got your answer i would love to see the unedited if you could pop that in for a comparison the image seems a bit overall orange but it could just be golden hour
I see what you mean. It's a bracketed shot so i'll have to upload multiple unedited photos but I can do that when I get home.
a bit but its still a good photo. agree with joseph's comment
Thanks!
I think it depends on what you want to convey with the photo. The overall scene and colors are really nice. In some ways, it feels like a picture of Mars with water. If you are wanting to convey something a more nature, than it is a bit too much (just my opinion here). I like sunstars, but I don't like the narrow sun rays and the foam of the water almost looks like concrete. Thanks for sharing! You caught a great scene.
Well I think I was going for a more dramatic look than natural. Even though the scene was naturally pretty dramatic. I would've shot a long exposure to make the water smoother but, unfortunately, I didn't bring my ND filters.
Hey there. I really like it. I understand your concern as it is quite dramatic. There is a lot of serendipity in this shot... so consider yourself lucky. However it does kind of look like a cheesy painting in a sense - like a painter who decided to just add everything possible. If it's totally real, I love it.
Oh it's real :) it might look like that because of exposure stacking and that's what I was worried about.
I like this photo very much. However the rays of the sun on th rock look fake. If they are I think it would better off without them. If they are real, please forgive my mistake.
Thank you! Those are actually real. I only blended multiple exposures and focus stacked it. I did not add anything that wasn't there.
Really nice composition. Yeah its a bit over processed but still looks cool. Did you get aggressive with processing in software or is this effect mostly straight out of camera?
