Searching in the Sunset

Hi fellow photographer, I just wanted to hear a little input on this shot I did yesterday. I got a brand new a7 III and luckily I had the perfect conditions for this photo. My worry is always if I overcook the image so to say. I love drama and somewhat oversaturated pictures but what do you think? I have done this a year so I am always super eager to learn.

I think the colors and drama are great, good work! To get the photo to be even greater I would like to see the person`s upper body also against the lighter blue/red sky, and not against dark clouds. He disappears a little against the dark clouds. So to look for an angle or spot for an opening in the skies where the persons whole silhouette could stand out from the background, would elevate this picture to be outstanding.

Yes, you are totally right! I was very focused on just getting the shot, maybe overexcited. Also, it's myself in the shot, where I used a self-timer so I further made it difficult. But thank you so much for your words, I think next time I will be more patient and take time to look for the best moment. Do you think I could do anything in post-processing to correct it more? or would it be too obvious?

Yes something can be done in Photoshop. But it requires a good amount of skills. Or maybe lighten the clouds in Lightroom? I don`t know how it would look. But definitively good by a great Photoshopper :)

So I tried my best to mask it and make some local adjustments, I think I turned out pretty well without losing the structure in the clouds. I also did some smoothening of the pants. Thank you for your observation, it made learn something!

Nicely done!

Thank you!

Colors look great, don't like the frame, its distracting.

I see what you mean, thank you!

Great looking shot, but I have to agree, the frame takes away from the photo.

One of the few times I like a little extra juice is for silhouettes. I think that is fine. Like the others' said, head in the clouds is the only issue. Otherwise really nice!
