have a plan!!!

there are some nights when a storm rolls through and then golden hour and even into blue hour you can get incredible image but you need to have a plan or a go to place that you know you can get to in less than 15min...this was my failure last night when the sky was going crazy with color and all i had time to do was go across the street to the cemetery.

Totally agree, Joseph. I have one such place - if the drama occurs to the north. Otherwise, I'm stuffed. A pure skyscape is still sometimes possible if you're caught without the plan, or unable to execute it.

I am still looking for a closer place mine is 30 min away and with the kids activities homework and all that stuff I’m screwed ... it doesn’t help being stuck in suburban hell lol

Suburban purgatory here. I thought you lived in rural heaven.

about 40 min drive to rural it sucks

When I lived in Phoenix, we had a flat roof and that was a great place for this need. Now, my go-to place is the beach but it is 20 minutes away. I have been know to check the beach cams and vault up and make a run for it - much to my families surprise.

This are both nice shots Joe! The clouds is the second are really pretty.
:)

thanks Ruth

From my deck I can get a partially obscured view of the sunsets over Vancouver but my Drone can get unobstructed shots. Unfortunately my Spark photos aren't print quality.

Simon Fraser University on the Hill, last night.

nice Scott!

Well you did good. Yes planning is the 90 per cent of the shooting in my opinion. Knowing which direction the light will be coming, when sunset, sunrise is and being there way before the golden hour so that you have your frame and ready to go.

thanks Lorretta...Where have you been? haven't seen you in here in a while.
