This is one of the jetties that line the NJ shore. It is from a while back it was my first long exposure of water. How fun! it was taken at dusk - almost dark.
Beautiful, Ruth! You certainly have an eye for composition. Again, you've achieved a "painterly" quality, reminding me of Japanese traditional art, and photographers whose work embodies a sympathetic aesthetic, like Michael Kenna, Hiroshi Sugimoto, and John Sexton.
I really like that suggestive, implicit effect, rather than a more literal interpretation of an attractive subject, especially evident in the mistiness of the spray.
Very impressive first attempt at long exposure. I hope you show us more.
Another wonderful image Ruth. Late to the party, so not too much further to add.
I think your timing of the wave crashing at the end of the jetty is spot on - the jetty forming a great lead in to the lighter spray.
One thing I'd like to try.The spray at the bottom of the image is very bright and tugs at the eye. I'm wondering if this were toned down whether the composition would be stronger.
Really nice result. Long exposure has a pleasant muting effect on the water here and I love the slight tail of sand.

Another excellent image, I love the weight (rich tone) of the Jetty in contrast to the rest of the composition, good balance.

I’m love long exposures as well with B&W photos, this photo reminds me of what I wanted to start with landscape photography.
Love the composition , really well done Ruth.
Thanks Cristian! That is a cool thing to say.
