Hey,
i took this image a couple of days ago and i think its one of my best work from the last couple of month in south east asia. Yet, the location is not so well known as other spots on the island.
What could I ve done better in this image? (except including the cliff on the right hand side, it wasn't possible from my vantage point)
I used a cpl and gnd filter.
Thanks
Hi Thijs! What a great shot! I am envious of the locale.
This is an awesome image as is so my feedback is just from a personal preference perspective. You, as the artist, should take this is whatever direction you like.
I think that the colors are a bit rich and the contrast a little high. It almost looks like a rendering to me. I took a screen capture to play around with the see what I would do with this. Turns out it wasn't much. I brightened it, toned it down a bit and lightened the blacks. Then it looked a little flat so i darkened the foreground a bit. I think it gives it a softer, more natural look.
You are a really good photographer and this image is great the way it is. Like I said above, these are just what I would do.
Best wishes!
PS - I also think you have a nice second shot in here.
It is a really good image Thijs! I agree with Ruth. Another way of putting it is that it has a little of that "HDR" look, in that the foreground looks improbably bright against that sky, which I suspect is what creates that "rendering" effect, rather than the typical photograph's "window" on the scene, more or less as seen.
The overall concept and composition are really good though, and Ruth & I often agree (not always!) about aesthetic issues, and many might like your rendition perfectly well.
Your portfolio images are excellent, and in a fairly dramatic (and appealing) style, so - do your own thing, I say!
i really like the image my only thing is and i don't know if its adjustable from the position of the shot but if you can somehow move so the 2 triangular rocks aren't in line with each other the color doesn't bother me that much a little HDR looking but i like the drama of it below is an example of what im talking about....sorry for the supper sloppy edit
