Irish Castle, Needs a bit of Care

I just got back from a week in Ireland and was very lucky to have great weather for the most part. I have just started looking at all my pictures but I wanted to put a few quick edits just to get some feedback. Three separate edits, desaturated the first, boosted the colors on the second and B&W on the third. I am curious to know if you like the edits and compositions.

3,2,1 in that order.

Thanks Scott! I had to crop a sheep out of the 3d picture on the right and wasn't sure if the square crop left the picture a bit unbalanced.

At least the sheep keep the grass cut. (That's a joke.)

I like the third one best, too, but I think I might have cropped it a bit more to really achieve a square image.

lol. Yes I agree on making it truly square, I really just threw some quick edits together to post up because I was excited to have some new pictures to talk about. Sloppy on part.

As usual, I'm partial to the B&W, but the sky is just so bright snd boring that it detracts from the impact of the interesting shapes of the structure.

I whipped up a quick edit to draw out some detail in the clouds, but the JPEG leaves little room for expanding those tones. You could do a lot better with the original file.

Thanks Phillip. I really agree with you. On my first pass, I tried pulling the sky down and it got really grainy. I used two different grad filters on this one. Is this enough to give the right side enough interest? Funny. The weather changes so quick. There wasn't much time between the clear sky in pic 2 versus almost all clouds in 3.

Better! But maybe a little dark inside the structure.

I don't think I can choose between the second and third. Even though they are of the same subject, they have very different moods. I love them both!! No suggestions!

Thanks Ruth!

I do like the B&W picture the best, I think. I'm having trouble making a firm decision since the three pictures are taken from different angles with different foregrounds, etc. Maybe you had this in mind but I think the B&W works because there is nothing in the foreground. No goats, shrubs, etc..
I'd find it interesting if perhaps you'd apply the three variants to image number one.
I really hope that someday I get to Ireland and other parts of Europe. Your pictures have whetted that appetite once again.

Thanks for the feedback Scott! I posted up the edits I thought went best with each picture. Here is the color edit I made on #1, that I really didn't like. I wanted the green to pop but it just didn't feel right. I also though the sheep's head got lost in the stone wall. And, with the sky, I thought that B&W kind of looses the sheep. I posted up the three different versions just wanting to see how people other than myself liked them. I find I really like desaturated color pictures, but it doesn't look it was much of a hit so far.
