Dried Pods

Dried flower pods out in a field. One of those small details of nature I've walked past countless times in my life, decided to actually shoot some. This shot, though nothing great, just has a kind of calm energy I've grown to like.

I agree, it is a little ethereal. Thanks for sharing!

That's a good word Shawn, thanks for that ~

Beautiful mood you capture here, Joe! Shawn puts it well - ethereal. And yes, those pods have a delicate beauty about them. I like your selective focus, something you use well. Must try more myself! You've inspired me.

Thanks as always Chris. At the time I shot this, I was also testing out my 105mm prime (which is a 1:1 macro as well), I didn't have my tripod. Trying to shoot these damn things handheld with a constant breeze really became a test of will. Keep that shutter speed high and shooting bursts was the name of the game here.

This is beautiful Joe! I love the way you lined these up combined with the depth of field making it feel like a pathway into the image.

I would be curious to see a landscape format. Not to replace this! This is perfect. Just in addition.

Also. I could see this as a triptych with three photos in portrait format with this as one of the three. Each with a different number of these lovely pods. Almost like you took a landscape format and cut it up. The simplicity would make an extremely elegant, understated art piece.

Thank you Ruth, I really like the triptych suggestion, that would make for a nice wall scene.

And this was one of those end of the day shots, unexpected, and makes you late for your next "place to be" because you just gotta get it :)

Ah yes ... the infamous "late maker". This one was well worth in!
