Desert Dweller

Hey all, brand new to Fstoppers. Definitely awesome to see so much talent out there! Figured I’d put up one of my shots from out here in the Superstition Mountains of Arizona. Hope you enjoy!

Great image, Kevin! You have an eye for poetic drama and powerful, moody colours. "Just a hobbyist... just a welder with a camera" indeed! This is the best image in your portfolio to my eye, with its strong composition. Post more please!

Oh wow! I can’t tell you how much that means to me! Thank you for your extremely positive feedback! More to come!

I just hope you realize that we are all honest and will give critical feedback and suggestions when we think it will help. Good shot!

Absolutely, I’m always open to feedback of all kinds! Everything helps! Thank you!

Hi Kevin! Welcome! This is lovely. I spent many days in the Superstitions and this brings back happy memories. The colors are beautiful. I am curious about the choice of the tight vignette on the cliffs. In my opinion it is too tight/round. It is just my preference to have a more natural look so I don't focus on the editing rather than the scene. I do like the darker treatment of the lower half and cactus.

I am looking forward to seeing more from you!

Hey thank you for your feedback! To be completely honest, I have no idea why I did it that. I used a selective edit circle and pushed the exposure up just a bit from where the sun was. I think maybe, I over extended the selective edit just a bit. I don’t have a computer so all my editing is done through Lightroom Mobile on my phone.. could have been my screens light adjustment to my surroundings at the time as I was outside processing this image.

I'm with you! My phone makes thing much more saturated than my computer so I have to be careful when I use the phone for editing. Best wishes and post more!
