The way of the west

Certain moments with the land, they seem to embrace you, wrapping themselves forever into the fiber of your being.. Visiting Canyonlands and southern Utah, experiencing the vastness of this place was something no video or book could prepare me for. Finally, after living overseas for over 22 years and then moving to Utah, I understood what the greats like Ansel and Weston felt standing in the presence of such magnificence and I was humbled...the way of the west.

its such a beautiful landscape i can't wait to explore one of these days

Wait till you are standing there...indescribable.

i have stood in 3 places like that swiss alps, half dome, alaska but somehow i think that place with its vastness would make me feel pretty small and insignificant like a piece of dust strolling through

Well said.

I love the mood you captured in this one. Was this an early morning shot with fog?

It was morning but not to early. My wife and I had made our first trip to Mesa Arch on this morning before sunrise (1 hour drive from out hotel in Moab) and I didn't even see this when we were on the way. But you can best believe I saw it on the way back!
