The landscapes of the west offer dramatic vistas that take the breath away but before I moved to Utah, Germany was where I lived and fell in love with photography. Instead of dramatic mountains, rolling hills and countryside were the norm and hidden in these places was a different beauty altogether....quiet light.
Love this one, Mark! All those lines... sounds dumb, I know. You should look up John Sexton's "Quiet Light" and "Listen to the Trees" portfolios, if you don't know them already, as I expect you might like them. Your monochromes generally appeal to me. You have a real knack with them.
Thanks Chris! When I was stumbling around in the beginning with photography my Belgian wife suggested I look up some guy called Ansel Adams (have to laugh when I think about that now 14 years later). John Sexton's work is phenomenal, subtle and brilliant.
Adams? I'll have to look him up... ;-)
You are doing it again! What makes this so beautiful to me is the light. This is a perfect use of back lighting. It is hard to do this and have it work so well. No suggestions Mark!
Thanks Ruth!
