A good choice for black and white.

Thanks David

I agree with David the black and white looks better

Thanks Jeremy

@Joseph, for me its BW.
Since am going through creative discussions about such frames, it encourages me to think more about such inspiring images.
thanks

Thanks Vijay I feel like we can all learn from each other

I'd say color, especially if you are keeping the foreground. If you are zooming right into the main cascades with granite back ground, B&W.

I agree completely. I don't know that there is quite enough tonal variation in the foreground for BW. If you were to crop the bottom 40% though...

Thanks Robert ive been called out for tonal variation before I’m not sure if it’s my camera or my editing

Hi Joseph, it may be neither, sometimes it's just not in the scene. Often times people just boost contrast in post to get around this but that can ruin the look of the photo. Not sure what you are editing with but experimenting with the BW profiles/filters in the basic panel in Lightroom, or manually playing with the BW sliders can help add a little separation.

Thanks Robert I was using Photoshop to the edited image and color just transferred it over to the black and white sliders I might have to go back to the raw image and start from scratch

me too - but I would saturate/contrast it a wee bit more. Color for me on this one.

Makes sense thanks Ray

You've changed the feel through changing the tonalities as well as eliminating colour, Joseph. Each works in its genre. I tend to prefer colour images, but like both equally in their different ways in this instance. You've done a very good job with the mono, highlighting the water's flow. All with your usual moody drama... ;-) Somehow the mono is more "painterly".

Thanks as always Chris I appreciate your input

I think the colors in the first image support the story better so I'd go with that as a preference.

The B&W image has appeal in its own right but for me I agree with others regarding the range of tones. I'd be interested to hear which you prefer.

I was totally unsure I figured I toss it in here see what you guys said and then pick the one that I could edit more or make better

I think the B&W offers further options for editing and may produce a sound image in its own right. Perhaps experimenting with filter effects (Lightroom profiles?) and/or luminosity masks might produce more interesting tones.

possibly ill try it
