Hi guys, I got this picture of a malachite kingfisher at a reserve called Rietvlei in Cape Town South Africa, hope you guys enjoy it! I just love how the early morning sun lit up the beautiful bird!
I really am enjoying the colors in this, how the background 'grass' is almost mimicked in the bird's feathers, and the blue of the sky and the blue of his head, nice repetition.
My only wish is that there wasn't a blurred out object (probably something in the foreground) in the center of the image and at the tip of his beak. Doesn't ruin this for me, just a slight nitpick, still a great shot.
Yes, that is also my only problem, the whole location is overgrown with reeds, completely out of control, but I was lucky to blur that reed out enough, in a way I think it can attract more attention back to the bird, because to the left the background is much less busy than in the right.
Great shot and really neat bird! Hey, if you have time scroll down to Jeremy's post with birds. He is looking for feedback and you could probably help.
Great job Carel, nailed it.
