This was one of my favorite images from the first day of my trip, it was a wet weekend with lots of flowing water, I'm really interested in feedback on this shot though. It is two exposures to get a little more dynamic range. Please let me know what you think about it and any ways it could be improved.
I like a lot of the choices you made for the final image, particularly emphasizing the light on the cliff face and the vehicle's motion. Something with the river is throwing me off - perhaps a faster shutter speed to show a little more texture in the water would make it a more effective leading line? Either way, dramatic shot man - grats.
Thanks! I was very excited for that highlighting of the cliff face. I do have several shots of the river so ill play around with it!
Lower perspective leading you into the sky would make it better.
Oh you are right... i wonder if that was possible.
hey Dillon i asked on the main post but just realized you dropped it in here ...is it possible to get back to for a night shot to get the car trails in that s curve that would be a nice addition
Does the image feel balanced?
Yes! Most definitely. The excellent composition immediately struck me, Dillon. You capture a great sense of drama, with that soaring cliff and soaring peaks framing the central vista. The blurred vehicle leads us nicely into the latter better than any leading line alone could. You timed it perfectly.
The only improvements I can think of (& they may not work out in reality) would be to bring up the shadows, or somehow bring out a bit more detail & contrast in the shadow areas, esp. the left-hand cliff. The image is just a tad flat as is.
I've had a bit of a go to illustrate what I mean, but I've over-blown your sky in the process. You may prefer a more brooding look. It's your image!
Thanks! I agree about adding more contrast and i have been playing with that without it really working out. I appreciate your feedback!
