Night or Day & Instagram Crop?

Hi all, these are a couple quick edits of shots I took recently in Portugal. They could probably use some fine tuning, but trying to get some suggestions before I sink too much time into them. Which do you prefer as a portfolio shot? I also included 4x5 crops of each for Instagram--I don't love the crops, so any creative suggestions there are much appreciated. Criticism on the composition/post/anything else also welcome!

I think the light is great in the daytime (I think about 20-30 minutes after sunrise) shot and love the leading lines that the sun creates across the frame, though there isn't much going on in the sky. I like the night (actually an early blue hour, about an hour before sunrise) shot as well--it was a bit experimental since I haven't done night photography with the Sigma 14-24 f/2.8 before, but the seas were too rough and I was too precariously perched on a platform for me to be comfortable switching lenses and opening up the body of my camera to potential sea spray. Hope you enjoy!

I prefer the day one better, the sunlight streaming through the rocks is so pretty. nice shot, Josh

Thanks Jeremy!

like i always say in these instances merge them ill work on one for you to see

Thanks Joe, love the edit! I’ve never done this kind of blending before. I’m not necessarily philosophically opposed to it—I always take a variety of exposures with the idea in the back of my head that I can come back later and blend them if I ever get into that type of post work (I also have some daytime shots of this with faster shutter speeds so you get the drama of the waves crashing against the rocks and cliffs), but at this point in my photographic journey I like the idea of using single exposures.

That being said, I think your edit does a great job in the transition from day to night—usually I see this transition primarily take place vertically in the image, whereas the light necessitates that it happen horizontally from left to right here. I also changed the composition for the daytime shot to deemphasize the sky, but you did a good job aligning and merging. Thanks again for the suggestions—it’s definitely making me think about what I could do with all the exposures I have of this scene!

No problem all great shots with a ton of editing potential ...as they are I like the daytime with the streaming light pouring through

The blending looks cool albeit departs from realistic photography. However after looking at it for a few seconds I realised the image could still be shot in real life had there been a ship or a lighthouse as a strong source of artificial light on the left side. For those who haven't seen the original images, this would be a reasonable explanation,

All nice so .. how bout blend of day and night.
Wish there some clouds in sky.
Well done !

I really like Joseph's edit (above) and crop. Very lush.
