I had an idea to share what could presumably be a horrible idea.
Most of us work extremely hard to gain knowledge and experience in most things we set out to do. For the past 10 months this new hobby of mine has made me go crazy learning everything i possibly can from landscape photography. it's also encouraged me to look at and try other genres. In my own opinion I feel a solid uphill growth and hope that you are feeling the same. So in light of our advancements and achievements i'm displaying my first shot and my last shot, just to illustrate how hard work and practice really do pay off.
Also if any of you want to show where you came from and are now, maybe toss it up for the beginners for inspiration.
Below are my examples first shot is from last October when i bought my first 6 stop nd filter and tried it out. The second is most recent with much better gear and editing and composition and well you get the idea.
nice progress, quite fast :)
Thanks Stefan
I am on a very similar trip, although only 5 months into it. I already saw the second photo this morning when browsing and it caught my attention. Good continuation !
Thanks Chris it exciting to see the progress and the potential in everyone’s work
I was actually planning on making a discussion like this, but I was going to name it “let’s all laugh at how much I used to suck”. I’ll post some of my old picture vs my new stuff, when I get home.
Nice if it's anything like that vlog im sure it will entertain you might as well just put link to that lol
Yeah, I need to get around to restarting my Youtube page, but I have like 20 minutes of computer time a day, on average, which I'd rather spend editing good photos than making terrible videos, haha.
Here's a random grab from my old collection, probably back in 2009 or so, when I just found out photo editing was a thing and had no self control.
I think the thing I hate the most about this image is that, some how, it still exists. (I think I've used that one before, but it's late, so I'm sticking with it)
reminds me of old skateboard or surf magazine shots but with no skateboarders or surfers just lawn and lens flare hahahaha
I'm right there with ya. I am only 2 months into this landscape thing myself. Years of portrait and action sports never prepared me for this. I have to say I am a little irritated with you though. Your first image looks better than my last image :) Great post!! Really enjoying your work!
Hahaha thanks Brian
Joseph, I haven't been very active here for some time but I do pop in from time to time and always look at your work. I've been thinking all along that you have progressed immensely! You are an inspiration for anyone looking to build their skills! Keep up the great work!
Thanks a ton Red greatly appreciated!!!
This is a great idea man! You can really see how much you've inproved. That second shot is fantastic
Thanks Ryan I have had a ton of help from the community along the way that’s why I love this genre everyone truly wants to help one another improve and move forward with their skills
Hi Joseph. Yes it's certainly a journey for us all. It's one of those fields that you'll never stop learning as you experiment with different techniques and settings . Landscape is such a great way to also relax and get out and about. Great work with the photos!
Absolutely right Geoff thanks a lot!
Really good stuff Joesph, that's quite a leap forward! The color is great too, something I've been struggeling with for a while now.
