Seastack sensations

Not very optimistic about the weather forecast that morning i still managed to get out of bed and drove to this magnificent beach. Blue hour still didn't look very promising, but then the sky opened up and magic happened. What a moment!

I used a circular polariser and ND Grad for this shot, but still needed another bracketed shot to keep all details in the highlights

Dope shot man, love it!

Thanks John, glad you do :)

Nice shot 👍👌

Huge thanks Fabrice!

Did you merge bracketed shots in Lightroom or some other software? Shadow and highlight detail from the sun are very well maintained.

Thanks! I actually used filters but still needed an extra shot to cover those highlight details. The blend was done in post afterwards.

Hey Kevin, this is a really great shot. So, this feedback is both personal preference and food for thought. I like these highly processed images. One thing to think of is whether something about the processing creates something in the image that makes the eye think "hmmmm something's wrong" and then the veiwer starts looking for the issue rather than looking at the image as a whole.

Here's what stopped me - the light on the rocks in the foreground is on the wrong side of the rocks. The sun has set in the background but the front of the rocks are in light. As soon as i got stuck on that i started looking for other inconsistencies rather than just enjoying the view. It became a puzzle!

Please understand that this is probably just me as i can be really picky. It is a visially stunning image.

Good thinking Ruth...if you look at it that way it is definitely true and something i might pay more attention to in the future. But then i didn't ad something in post, just enhanced wat was already there (i believe there was reflective light on those rocks) and so i made it stand out a little more (maybe a little to much :) ) to draw attention to the foreground and lead the viewers eye into the frame. I admit that this isn't the most 'natural' edit, but then again it was never the purpose ;)
Thanks for your feedback, i always appreciate an analysis and someones idea on my photos. Helps me look at them again and learn and grow!
