The New York City skyline as seen from Old Pier 1 in Brooklyn. The pink hues come from the glowing orange sky augmented by a warming graduated ND filter and the glassy water is of course due to a 10 stop ND. Haven't done too many cityscapes so finding the right compositions to display the environment but also exaggerate the features and details of the building was a challenge for me. Any advice on composition, post-processing, or thoughts on the pink-toned style would be much appreciated
I like the first image best, the wood pillars create some nice leading lines that direct your eyes right up to the city skyline. Its a little heavy with pink but it makes a very interesting image with a nice balance of water, city and sky.
Hi Viren! Nice work! I think you have a nice eye for city scapes. While i normally find highly bsaturayed image less pleasing, you have handled this coloration masterfully. That second image with the two tone grading is a stunner! Love it!
Glad you like it!
I think trying new stuff is fun. I think these would be a little more interesting if you played another complimentary color off the pink or something. So I would agree with Ruth, picture 2 is my favorite and I would boost the blues at the bottom. ?? Its art. Thanks for sharing!
