My last day in Yellowstone I decided to spend the morning hanging out where I knew this Great Gray Owl was hunting. As the weather rolled in and the morning wore on I started to lose all hope of seeing him. Luckily just as we were making plans of where to go next, stating that there was no way he'd be hunting in the snow.. he made his appearance! Flying out of the forest and posing on the pine he gave us one hell of a final day.
NICE
Great shot! Kind of looks like an angle on top of a Christmas tree, but that tiny little tree top doesn't look strong enough to hold him!
This IS a nice shot. I am curious about the decision to not crop in a bit. The bird seems to be a little lost in the image and the effect of the snow would be stronger by a tighter crop
Nice catch!
I played around with composition quite a bit while deciding on a crop for this. This image was already cropped a fair amount, so I didn't want to go too much further and the vertical crop just doesn't quite do it for me. I like seeing more negative space as it really emphasizes the amount of snow in the photo to me. I would agree though that I could have gone a little bit tighter. Maybe something a bit more like this.
This is great! Really nice work!
