How about something like this, Scott? It's a bit rough-&-ready. The problem here is the "flat" lighting, with high sun and a lack of modelling of the forms i.e. a better sense of the shape of the mountains, for instance. I don't personally like high colour saturation, but even I'd increase it here. I've mostly increased contrast, one way or another to emphasise the variation in the sky, and the textures, especially in the forest on the mountains, as well as in the gravel beach.
