Not as sharp as I would have liked it, but I got incredibly lucky with the timing for this shot. Worthy to put in the portfolio, or no? The slight blurriness of the bee makes me hesitant. Also, any critique on the tones would be appreciated. I'm on the fence about whether the image is too dark or not.
I think this is a beautiful shot. I agree with you that if the bee was a little sharper it would take the image to the next level. My only critique would be a tighter crop. Possibly vertical showcasing the flower and the bee filling the frame, the background seems to be overpowering the subject. But it really is a nice image.
I thought so as well about the orientation. I actually tried for about an hour to replicate the image in portrait orientation but the bees wouldn't cooperate. I've edited the original landscape photo to be a 4x5 portrait and it does look a bit nicer. Wouldn't be able to print it but it'll make a nice instagram post.
I have the same issues. I end up cropping the image where it won't be a good print. But like you said it is good for Instagram. You have an awesome portfolio by the way.
Thanks so much Dan, Same to you
