Idan Livni's picture

Ancient walls

What do we leave behind ? A 2000 year old walls in the middle of the negev desert, shows us how people used to live 2000 year old, with the night sky above them.
Now the walls reflect a light from a near by army based, but other than that the desert is mostly empty.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

This image appeals to me, Idan, and I can't think of anything I'd change. I like the composition, and you've struck a good balance between the brightness of the foreground and the sky, often difficult in this type of image. I think you convey a sense of the ancient and timeless. Well done!

Nice shot. I like the contrast between the warm light on the rocks and the cool temp of the night sky. I also like the framing of the Milky Way between the ruins. Well done. The only constructive feedback I would like to leave here is about the 50:50 split between the foreground and the sky. Perhaps the image would have been more compelling if the foreground occupied maybe 25% of the bottom of the frame and you had more of the sky in it. Otherwise, great picture.

On reflection, you have a point about the composition, Siddhartha.

Really nice shot Idan is this a composite? or at least 2 separate images from the same night? compositionally its nice and a perfect frame for the MW the exposure time on the MW is just slightly too long as some of the stars are streaking I'm curious to see your exif data. the light hitting the peaks is also very nice warming the image a touch form the shadows and the cool sky. nice job!!
