Behind the Curtain

The mighty Fitz Roy, 3400 meters of sheer prominence and bewildering beauty. Many people here on the Pacific Northwest wear this mountain either on their hat or chest without even knowing it exists. Yes, the brand "Patagonia" main decal is an outline of what is considered to be one of the most aesthetic mountain on Earth. To see this mountain up close and personal was seriously humbling, as the mother of all rock faces took up nearly 50% of the sky.

The fall colours down here in Patagonia are beyond anything I've seen. Let's just say they put our maple leaves to shame when comparing saturation! This particular shot was extremely difficult to line up as a tree is literally right behind the camera. When scoping out the comp I noticed that either side of the tree was good, but not great. I reached around the tree and took a quick handheld snap to see what it was like, and the results were perfect for a potential image. I then wrestled my tripod around and moved the camera inch by inch in order to get all the branches to frame the image exactly the way I envisioned it. I'm certain that this is my favorite image I've completed yet! However, there are more ahead that may even put this one to shame 😎

Thanks for looking!

Stunning. The framing is perfect and the sunburst makes the picture!

A magical Kingdom... :o)

Gorgeous shot. It's not easy for a photographer to say "This is my favourite image", but if one can say that, you know it's special. Congratulations.

Epic! Am jealous..

The colors are great, I really like your orange. A successful mood.

Foreground, mid ground and distance interest with a sunburst, what's not to like.

That looks like a painting!
