I've just joined the Fstoppers community, and this is my first post. I'm an abstract ICM (intentional camera movement) landscape photographer, having focused my creative vision on ICMs for the past couple of years. My images are almost always captured hand-held (I can't remember the last time I used a tripod!), and because I've taken so many ICMs I've been able to really hone in on a personal technique that expresses my vision.
This is an image from earlier this year, in east-central Iowa, and is one I've never shared anywhere else before. Spring was trying to emerge, but there was still a bit of lingering snow on the ground.
Part of my vision with this kind of work is to inspire and encourage people to 'see' the landscape in new ways...less literally, and more the essence. I know there are a lot of perhaps not-so-good ICMs out there, and I think that tends to give ICM photography a bit of a bad wrap. But, I aspire to create aesthetically pleasing ICMs that create more meaningful connections with the natural world.
Thoughts, comments, and feedback are always welcome. I'm interested to know what the Fstoppers community thinks about these kinds of images.
Hi Stephanie, looking at your portfolio you have some fantastic ICM artworks.
To remain truthful I have to say that this one is not a personal favorite (I've been spoilt by your others....), but I looking forward to seeing a lot more from you.
Thank you, Alan, for your kind words about my work. That means a lot, and I'm glad my images resonate with you. 😊
This one is probably not one of my favorites, either, but I like to try ablot of different things so that all my work doesn't end up looking the same.
This image is one I took during one of my first outings after losing my very special animal companion in February. He went with me on all my photographic excursions, so this was me putting myself back out there...alone...to create again, and I suppose it holds something more personal for me than might be apparent to the viewer. 😊
Very cool
Thank you so much, Arjun! I appreciate that! 😊
