Sun Rise at Connor Lakes

The 6.5 hour hike/backpack one way to get to this magnificent remote mountain lake was one of the most rewarding challenges I've ever done :) This was the morning after, before we began our long hike back to civilization. This is Connor Lake in the Height of the Rockies park in the East Kootenays British Columbia

Anyone familiar with my work here nows that I prefer black and white for everything. In this case, I think you could add a little pop to the colors without going overboard and really make this shot stand out. As it is, the colors are a little drab. I cannot know if it's true-to-life, but there's nothing wrong with a little creative license as long as it's kept within the realm of possibility. Also, the image looks unlevel to me—the reflections in the lake are not directly under their respective mountain features, indicating a slight rotation.

I'll attach two suggestions.

An appealing image of a beautiful place, Mona. I like the restrained colours, but I agree with Phillip about the tilt. Still water and sea horizons are very telling about this, although people vary in how much minor skewing bothers them. I always use the virtual horizon on my camera, unless I can line up a sea horizon with viewfinder grid lines - and still find myself correcting images in post-processing.
A waterfall flowing in an unnatural direction can create a disturbing visual effect too.
