Murky Woodlands

"Murky Woodlands"

Finally, an image of trees that I'm actually happy with. I've always had a hard time finding a shot in forests as they tend to be extremely chaotic and messy, so generally I come home empty handed... not this time! It isn't perfect as there are some hotspots hanging about, but I dont find them to distracting and honestly there was nothing I could do to remove them, so I'll let it fly this time. I found processing this image to fun as I came up with a new solution to mitigate distracting and non dominant colours. Seemed to make this shot come to life for me. Hope you enjoy the image!

Looks like the entrance to the mirkwood - I know what you mean about hot spots, the light can be tricky when you have two extremes of light and dark. Nice shot, conveys the interconnection of the flaura.

Cool shot. Its hard to capture trees well in a photo, nice work.

I really dig this, and as to the hotspots, they don't bother me even a little. The composition pulls your eyes through the middle and leads you to look at all the twisting trees. Then you have the nice light coming in on the foliage. The only real hotsopt is so off the eye path that you only notice it if youre looking for it, and even then it adds a little balance to the darker corners.
