Hi guys,
I've been in the Alps (French and Italian side) for three weeks in September/October and came back with a few shots that I like. I just wanted to see which ones people react strongly to, and which ones you think may be portfolio-worthy. Because I have my favorites, but as experience from my portfolio tells me, it's not often the ones people like the most. It's just personal emotion, of my travel experiences, against what other people feel. So thanks in advance for your comments. To describe you this trip, it wasn't a pure photography trip. By that I mean that I'm hiking and exploring first. It was the first time I was hiking every day for 5 to 7 hours for three weeks straight (well maybe two or three days of rest due to rain or long drive till the next destination). I love off the beaten path stuff, so it wasn't anything very well known. The mountain ranges explored were the Grand Paradiso in Italy, and in France the Queyras, Mercantour and Ubaye mountains.
Hi Nick! Wow. What a nice spread. This must have been an outstanding trip.
There are some really nice images here. If you number down from the top:
6 is front page of portfolio worthy - stunning!!
3, 4 & 9 I just love. Really nice work.
The rest are nice but not as successful as the four mentioned above. It is hard to tell sometimes as I have had images get soft in the upload process here. The first image above looks unfocused but it could be this upload issue.
All the said, I hope 6, 3,4,9 are on your profile so I can give 6 five stars and the rest four.
Great work!
Thanks for your support Ruth. It seems that like you most people respond more strongly to my b&w work. I'll put some new stuff in my portfolio see what people think.
Hi Nick I love 4 & 6 the contrast and feel make them really interesting. Perhaps to my eye 6 has too much black.
Thanks. I like b&w when it's right on the verge of clipping the shadows. It's not clipping in number 6, although I agree I find it a bit hard to tell on the fstoppers website image preview.
