A farmer walks his horses down a Chestnut-lined country lane . This was an instant where the scene was spotted, the car abruptly stopped and the camera grabbed.
This is one of those spots that has been visited many times, and I feel I have thus far failed to do it justice.
All comments, whether good or bad are welcomed. I'd especially like to hear any thoughts on how to improve the image, I'm always looking to improve and treat all suggestions as a gift.
Edit 10/21
Following Phillip's suggestion I have included a vertical image for comparison. I have to say I do feel the vertical format brings something different to the table.
I like it, but the relative size of the subject makes it difficult to discern from the surroundings. I would suggest a vertical crop to enhance the lines of the road and make it a little easier to see the details of the subject. This would look good printed very big... if you have the resolution for it.
Thanks Phillip, your point is valid. I have reservations about the size of the subject myself (blame bad timing).
I hadn't considered a vertical crop (as I love those lines of Chestnuts) but will give it a try.
Beautiful Alan. I love the soft light. The landscape and portrait crops are like two different images. I love the emphasis and height that Philip's gives the canopy and, of course, the subject is more prominent. I agree with you about the trees though. And there is something to say for the man/horses being sort of a surprise when they catch your eye.
Regardless, lovely work!!
