Charlie Vanaret's picture

Sunset from Reinebringen

Hi,
After climbing up the 1600 steps or so of Reinebringen (Lofoten), you end up to an astonishing vantage point over the village of Reine.
I found this composition, whose symmetry I really like. What do you think?

The image doesn't appeal to me, but much respect for such a hike to get the shot. Not sure what in particular dosen't work for me... somewhere between color and the choice of crop I think.

IMO this is a solid image. I don't have strong feelings about the composition either way, but if you want to keep this composition, I think some thing needs to be done to the lower left quadrant, which right now is just flat. There is good light on the upper 1/3 of the image.

I find the image generally appealing, Charlie. I don't share your view about the symmetry, though - that rising dark central mass splits the image, which emphasises the lack of something to hold my eye at bottom left, an area bothering Ray, too. That corner just doesn't "fit" with the rest, for me.

Much better said then my fumbling.
