Nice! I'm still kind of winging it on my night exposure lengths... and too stubborn for watching Youtube tutorials. Ugh. So I spend hours standing around in the dark... come home with a mess of random shots.
C.O i did go back and chked - it was 3.2s exposure ... here was the actual shot, followed by my "ice cream; conversion followed by this Cozy / Halloween conversion. my ration can sometimes be 300:1 and sometimes 1:1 :)
My education continues. Noting the time length for exposure. What's the significance of the ratio stuff? (I could Google it... but the conversation is more engaging)
Thanks for sharing the other shots. It's neat to see the process that goes into an image. It resonates for me as I struggle to add layers to my fiction work. More of my unconventional approach to writing education... photography. Ha.
the ratio stuff: forget google :) ... what i meant is sometime you will shot many but only 1 image will do it for you and sometimes the moon ,stars align and you will take 1 shot and that is it .. but i tend to keep all those 100's of useless ones because one day i may return to them and rework it with knowledge gained and maybe find a gem in the rough.
Ahhh... this makes sense and saves me another rabbit hole trip into the internet. Thank you. :)
I recently spent a couple of months compiling 37 yrs worth of journal writing. My digital collection of photos... yikes! And I still remember the giant hall closet full of my father's slide reels.
it can be tricky since i try to just use the light available/not available ... since i added ND filters and exposure bracketing methods to my box of tricks i can do more in daylight and let it look like low light etc .. but pure night street/city shots are great as there is more than enough light to play with. the youtube education works BUT only if you go and DO it and not get bogged down to watch endless episodes - but as always im the last person on this forum to give formal advise. you need to craft your own style by tunneling through all the noise to get to that look/feel you want and measure the impact by watching how others react to your work and use that as a guidance . afterall we take these photos to show other people. if its only for yourself to enjoy then life will be boring
in another exhibit i dubbed this Halloween - (since it was taken during Halloween -but now that its winter on that side of the pond - Cozy is more relevant)
Nice image. I like the transition to dark, starry sky.
What exposure length did you shoot?
Need to chk but if i recall it was in 10-20sec range

I love the "ice cream" description.

Good job again, Marius! You're very imaginative and varied in your imagery. I like the almost duotone, or even almost single-colour effect here.
thank you Chris
