Nice, Stephen! The mono is much more atmospheric - and I'm a colour fan, not a B&W devotee. It looks a lot like infrared B&W film.
I think the saturated sky makes the trees look insipid, instead of shining and glittering in the colour image. Here's a tweak more to my taste. But well done for both. I note your compositions are great, both here and in your portfolio.

I like both of these....the black and white is my favorite and I do enjoy the saturated blue sky in the first one.
