VINICIUS YUZO ZUCARELI's picture

Salobra River - Bodoquena Brazil

This is a photo that I really liked when I took it, before I had a DSLR.

It is a smartphone picture, and probably not the best composition, but I don't know why I like it so much, and I thought I'd lost it, but found it again.

This is almost straight out of camera, btw.

I plan going there again, now much better equipped and with a LOT more photography knowledge, but I think this is one of the pictures that motivated me to learn more about photography.

What do you guys have to say about it? I know that I look at it through some rose tinted glasses, and would like to know what you guys think of it.

Oi Vinicius! I think what lifts this image out of the ordinary, even without the rose tint, is the bird, profiled, and looking as if it's in a custom-made gap in the leaves. Technically, you had fairly "flat" light, so the mountains' form is not highlighted. Also, the image is a bit split into the rather uniform left half, and the more "interesting" right half. But It's a good start.

I note in you portfolio that you don't complain about one-star ratings! "Bombing" portfolios with low ratings and no comments plagues even some excellent photographers on FS, otherwise a very civil and friendly platform.

Let's see some of what you come up with when you revisit!

Thank you!

I think it was not the best time of the day for this shot. There are a few better places to take a picture like this, and if I'm not mistaken the sun was rising to my right. If my exif is correct it was very early morning.

Going down thousand steps there are several beautiful waterfalls. I need to go back again.

And I know that I have a very boring and amateur portfolio, I am amateur after all.

I didn't take this hobby seriously until recently and my second daughter is due in a few days, so no time to get out and shoot.

But this year I know that I will take many new pictures and improve a lot
